How should I configure my linksys usb wireless adapter to connect to a belkin router?

Hi!
I try to connect my Linksys Wireless USB Adapter (WUSB54G SpeedBooster model) to my Belkin router. It connects but tends to disconnect quickly enough once I start surfing the net or download. I think the settings on my Linksys may be different from my router. How do I configure my Linksys adapter (fragmentation threshold, channel, etc.) to match the default settings on a Belkin router? Any suggestions on how to maintain the link? Thank you!

PS: Does anyone know the default settings for a Belkin router?
Thank you for the info but to clarify that I want to know what settings I need to match between the adapter and the router, either - fragmentation threshold, channel, ect. or if there is another reason why it would disconnect. I-do-security center windows have reduced mobility. Could it be?

On the router there is a reset button on the router, hold it for about 30 seconds still connected to the reset to factory settings.

As for the wireless card, once the router is reset it should just connect automatically unless the router is security enabled by default.

Can I connect to xbox live with a LInksys wireless usb adapter (WUSB54GC) adapter plugged into the console?

D-Link DIR-685 Xtreme N Storage Router

D-Link’s DIR-685 Wi-Fi router generated a lot of buzz at CES this past January. And when we took a gander at its spec sheet, we thought it a contender for Best of the Best in the router category; something that would finally displace the Linksys WRT600N , which is becoming hard to find. Alas, ’twas not to be.

The problem certainly isn’t with the DIR-685’s feature set: This router is absolutely loaded with goodies. The 3.2-inch color LCD can inform you of the router’s status and configuration; present digital photos from Flickr, Picasa, and Facebook; display RSS feeds, such as sports scores, weather reports, and stock quotes; and a lot more (this is one router your significant other won’t insist be hidden in a closet).

Next up, there’s a 2.5-inch internal SATA hard drive bay, which can turn the router into a NAS box (complemented by a built-in FTP server and BitTorrent software). There are two USB ports featuring D-Link’s SharePort technology, which allows you to plug in both an external hard drive and a printer and share these devices with any computer on the network. The router’s four-port gigabit switch automatically powers down any ports not in use to save a modest amount of energy.

Linksys WUSB300N-RM Wireless N USB Adapter

Both of the situations ring true for me. My laptop doesn't support 802.11n and it doesn't work very well if it is more than 50 feet from a router. I also have a desktop computer that isn't near an Ethernet port. That led me to a search for USB wireless adapters and I think I found a great mix of a powerful component at a very reasonable price in the Linksys WUSB300N-RM Wireless N USB Adapter . The "RM" in the name stands for refurbished which helps to keep the price down to only $24.99. At that price, I didn't hesitate to get one for both my laptop and desktop. It also could be handy if you have a guest in your office (or your home) who needs to connect to your wireless network. One of my friends always keeps a USB wireless adapter handy for guests in his home.
