Wireless router?

I plan on buying a new router. I only need a wired router, but I think I might invest in a wireless model so I would not buy a wireless, if I get a laptop at some point. This might be a stupid question, but it is possible to use a wireless router that has a 4-port switch built in only for Wired, right?

Yes, you will find a lot of wireless routers with 4 ports RJ-45 (wired connections).

wireless&router?

hi... i live in a basment .. and well there are many free internet wireless networks that i can catch with my in built WLAN in my laptop... my problem is that since i am in a basment... i can only cach internet at one corner in the house near a window?? is there anyway i can jst make these signals stronger and can use internet anywhere in the house? like a router or anyother instrument.. which i can use to emit these free networks in my apartment... can u help.. and how much would it cost? thanks in advance

You'll need to purchase a PCMCIA wireless adapter that has an antenna attachement. They aren't that common since most people don't need/use them, but you should be able to find one online if not in your area. Then you'll need to purchase an antenna and experiment to find where the best location is to get signal.

Is your data safe? 5 tips for data security in your dental practice…

An even better method is to password-protect and completely log off your computer at the end of the day, which will prevent access to documents that are stored outside your practice management software. These are very simple processes to implement.

4. Are you backing up your data properly? In more cases than not, the tapes you are swapping or the portable hard drives you are lugging around are not enough. Tapes can wear out and sometimes do not correctly back up your data. If you are using tapes, then you should regularly conduct test restores to assure that the data you need is being backed up. Portable hard drives, while cheap and easy, can result in the same problems as tapes. Make sure you conduct test restores. In addition, most backups to portable hard drives are not encrypted. This means anyone who plugs in your drive can steal your data.

There are many options available today. There are a lot of good remote backup solutions that use the Internet, but encrypt the data so it is protected. Also, there are new disaster recovery systems that back up data to a local storage device as well as a remote location. Make sure your backups happen regularly and that whatever you back up to is in a safe place outside your office. You can never back up too often or too securely.

Buffalo AirStation WZR2-G300N Review

The AirStation WZR2-G300N Wireless-N Nfiniti Router is more than your average router in that it includes an external switch to change between router and access point modes, It can be integrated into your current network and used purely as an access point, or if you are looking to upgrade, it works as a router for your Cable/DSL connection. Designed to IEEE802.11n Draft 2.0 specifications with claims of up to 4x the range and up to 12x the speed over wireless G.

Buffalo technology bring a unique level of security native to their airstation product line - The AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS), Put plainly this means if you have another AOSS airstation wireless product, such as a network card in your laptop, you can create a connection simply and securely with the push of a button, much the same as connecting a wireless keyboard to its receiver, This makes good business sense on the side of buffalo - and product compatibility is also a major factor with new innovations. The easy setup CD is just that - Easy, simply pop it in your disc drive and follow the step by step instructions and you'll be up and running in under 5 minutes.

With all these features this should prove to be a great product, The style of the router is a little old school but i like that - I'm not a big fan of white plastic or over built bulky products.
