I plan on buying a new router. I only need a wired router, but I think I might invest in a wireless model so I would not buy a wireless, if I get a laptop at some point. This might be a stupid question, but it is possible to use a wireless router that has a 4-port switch built in only for Wired, right?
Yes, you will find a lot of wireless routers with 4 ports RJ-45 (wired connections).

hi... i live in a basment .. and well there are many free internet wireless networks that i can catch with my in built WLAN in my laptop... my problem is that since i am in a basment... i can only cach internet at one corner in the house near a window?? is there anyway i can jst make these signals stronger and can use internet anywhere in the house? like a router or anyother instrument.. which i can use to emit these free networks in my apartment... can u help.. and how much would it cost? thanks in advance
You'll need to purchase a PCMCIA wireless adapter that has an antenna attachement. They aren't that common since most people don't need/use them, but you should be able to find one online if not in your area. Then you'll need to purchase an antenna and experiment to find where the best location is to get signal.

ClearTalk Selects Nexaira Wireless NexConnect SOHO Router as Value Added Solution
05.08.10
,
A progressive and innovative developer of 3G and 4G firmware and
hardware routing solutions, is pleased to announce that the NexConnect
SOHO Router has been selected by ClearTalk as an easy to use 3G routing
solution for their customers.
Nexaira's easy to use graphical user interface and plug and play feature
reduces support calls while increasing customer satisfaction, enabling
customers to setup their wireless internet WiFi infrastructure simply by
plugging their wireless data device into the router. The Nexaira router
programs the wireless data device and connects to the internet
automatically creating a WiFi network in only a few minutes.
"We tested Nexaira's Router with our first customers and had them
connected in only a few minutes with simple phone support. The average
time we spend with customers is 3 to 5 minutes, which is exponentially
less than we spent with a competitive router. We have not found a
friendlier user interface on a router than Nexaira's NexWare I3
Graphical User Interface," said Leslie Williams, Director of Product
Management at ClearTalk.
The AirStation WZR2-G300N Wireless-N Nfiniti Router is more than your average router in that it includes an external switch to change between router and access point modes, It can be integrated into your current network and used purely as an access point, or if you are looking to upgrade, it works as a router for your Cable/DSL connection. Designed to IEEE802.11n Draft 2.0 specifications with claims of up to 4x the range and up to 12x the speed over wireless G.
Buffalo technology bring a unique level of security native to their airstation product line - The AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS), Put plainly this means if you have another AOSS airstation wireless product, such as a network card in your laptop, you can create a connection simply and securely with the push of a button, much the same as connecting a wireless keyboard to its receiver, This makes good business sense on the side of buffalo - and product compatibility is also a major factor with new innovations. The easy setup CD is just that - Easy, simply pop it in your disc drive and follow the step by step instructions and you'll be up and running in under 5 minutes.
With all these features this should prove to be a great product, The style of the router is a little old school but i like that - I'm not a big fan of white plastic or over built bulky products.
