How do I print wireless? Do I just need to buy a print server?
Jan 21, 2009 by H1ppychic | Posted in Other - Computers
I have a wireless router at home with 3 laptops connected. I would be able to print to the printer with all 3 laptops connect without a USB. Should I just buy a print server wireless? If so, which one do you recommend? What SEPC should I be looking? Any additional pointer?
There are 3 ways you can configure the printer in place. It is good that you have a router. If you could have mentioned the name of the printer and then I could check if its got a network (Ethernet). This printer must be setup in the setup of infrastructure, when a printer is connected directly to a computer wired to wireless while his peers called for less ad-hoc installation.
Although you can install the network's recommended to disable your anti-virus, many times it has been found to block the detection of the printer installation setup.
Method 1 (if you have an Ethernet port) Connect the printer to the router with a cable network. Make sure that the three computers are connected to the router. Use the disc from the printer or the Add / Remove Programs to remove the old printer software installed. Then install the printer software on three systems. When installing network select Install. This will help all three computers to communicate individually with the printer.
2nd method (print server wireless) This method can be used when there is no Ethernet port. However you need to know if your printer supports by the manufacturer.Dell printers have called Dell Wireless 3300 adapter. It is only compatible with certain models. To do this it must first be connected to the PC and all three need to have the card installed, then the adapter must be connected to the printer and the printer software must be installed on three computers.
3rd method (print sharing) For this printer need to be connected to a computer with the USB cable and when you want to print the computer that is connected to the printer must be turned on.Go to Control Panel> Printers and Faxes> View installed printers> right click and enable printer sharing. Find the IP address of the computer that the printer is connected to Start> Run> type cmd click Open> type ipconfig and hit enter> IT, you'll see your IP address.
Go to the other two systems. > Start Run type \ \ then the IP address. "It will show the printer icon on the double-click the icon and this will install the printer sharing on two other systems
Hope this helps.

With technology becoming a regular part of life, companies have been on the cutting edge by making it more convenient. One of the best advantages has been the invention of wireless connections. Computer users can set up many of their hardware devices, without being tied down with cables. A wireless router print server, such as Netgear or Asus, is a very popular way to connect various computers to a printer, without any wires. Wireless networks are very popular to effectively connect numerous computer systems.
One of the main concerns of a wireless router is losing certain functions on a printer, such as scanning or copying on an all-in-one printer. This is certainly not the case. Any properly set up wireless network will still allow your printer to maintain all of its function. A wired printer will not be anymore useful than a wireless router print server. Another fear is that a wireless router will not be as fast as a hardwired one. The speed of a router will depend on the specifications of the product. For example, an n router will have the fastest speed at 540 mbps. Storage on a wireless router is also very large. Companies, such as Linksys, offer big gigabit routers.
Enjoy the convenience of sharing a printer over a wireless network, without compromising security or efficiency with the HP Jetdirect ew2500 Wireless Print Server. Along with Wi-Fi certification and 802.11b/g wireless capability, the print server supports Fast Ethernet wired networking for versatile printer sharing.
