How do I make my USB Wireless Antenna work!!!?

Clearly trying to impose my will upon it has not been successful, and it refuses my Jedi mind tricks, so obviously the force is not strong with me.

I have a new laptop with an awful ability to get a good signal (the other two sitting right beside it have great signals) so I snagged a USB wireless antenna hiding in my closet and hooked it up. I installed the drivers and, waa laa, it sees the signal beautifully, BUT it won't connect...arghhhh!

I am thinking that next I will try the whirly gig technique to get it to connect.....

...this is where i twirl it around by the cord while flailing it up against a rather large tree in my yard..

you should take it in where you bought it and have them fix it, or replace it.I use a USB antenna and it works fine. it sounds like something is wrong with your wireless card

New Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter in the Works?

Cost you in Xbox 360 peripheral dollars.

How overpriced is the current 802.11g part? Put it this way. I just bought a Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless-N Network USB Adapter for my MacBook Pro--a part that's boosted my ability to hone in on signals by at least 100 feet--for $60. You can get most USB 802.11n parts, with or without an external antenna, for somewhere in the $13 to $30 range.

Say what you will, wireless matters. My Xbox 360 hasn't been in sighting range of an Ethernet cable since I bought it. I know some of you swear by Ethernet--I have a friend who was at one point running a monstrously long one out of his bedroom, down the hallway, around his living room, and up to the back of his entertainment center--but if I had to bet who's using what, I'd say over half of you dropped $100 on the adapter. Sooner or later you want the flexibility. How many of you have your cable or DSL boxes squatting in your living room (as opposed to the office, tucked away somewhere out of sight)? I'm betting not that many.

iClarified - Apple News - USB Antenna Ten Times Wireless Range

QuickerTek has announced an update to one of the most popular Mac wireless signal products ever~the 1 Watt USB Transceiver. This simple-to-use USB device just plugs into the USB port of any Mac desktop or laptop after installing software, it will deliver ten times the signal range of the internal AirPort card.

Regardless of the setting, the 1 Watt USB Transceiver reaches out to distant Base Stations or other wireless access points. It is not just a range extender, it also ensures that maximum wireless speed is maintained.

The antenna is a 5dbi dipole model that is not only more powerful than that built in antenna of an AirPort equipped Mac, but it also is external to the computer case. This 1 Watt USB Transceiver temporarily clips to anything within a foot of the computer - often the screen of the laptop is ideal. This makes it better able to receive wireless signals - unrestrained by the metal computer chassis. And the antenna is removeable, so a higher power antenna can be used to upgrade the Transceiver later.

This easy-to-use device supports 802.11b/g wireless standards to readily connect to most any wireless network. From office to coffee shop to college campus, the 1 Watt USB Transceiver fully supports 64/128 bit WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption, so you don't sacrifice data security for improved speed and range. You also get USB 1.1 and 2.0 support - making your USB connection work at maximum speed. It also supports WMM for the high demands of streaming multimedia audio and video.

Any Mac with an open USB port running Mac OS X 10.3.9, 10.4.x, 10.5.x or 10.6 is compatible with the new 1 Watt USB Transceiver. And since it only weighs four ounces, it is both light and compact - perfect for those users who frequently use laptops while traveling.

Pricing and Availability:
QuickerTek has the 1 Watt USB Transceiver for $299.95 (USD). Like most QuickerTek products, the new 1 Watt USB Transceiver is backed with a one-year...
