I bought a gateway Linksys USB plug in my xbox360 but the system does not recognize when I plug in is there a certain type of installation process should I do?

Clearly trying to impose my will upon it has not been successful, and it refuses my Jedi mind tricks, so obviously the force is not strong with me.
I have a new laptop with an awful ability to get a good signal (the other two sitting right beside it have great signals) so I snagged a USB wireless antenna hiding in my closet and hooked it up. I installed the drivers and, waa laa, it sees the signal beautifully, BUT it won't connect...arghhhh!
I am thinking that next I will try the whirly gig technique to get it to connect.....

you should take it in where you bought it and have them fix it, or replace it.I use a USB antenna and it works fine. it sounds like something is wrong with your wireless card
How overpriced is the current 802.11g part? Put it this way. I just bought a Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless-N Network USB Adapter for my MacBook Pro--a part that's boosted my ability to hone in on signals by at least 100 feet--for $60. You can get most USB 802.11n parts, with or without an external antenna, for somewhere in the $13 to $30 range.
